Anne Keffer
of the Spiritual Directors Network
and Catechumenate Project
Sister Anne Keffer has been an innovative and enthusiastic contributor to parish and synodical ministry in Eastern Canada for three decades. A graduate of the Baltimore Deaconess School, she was called first to parish work at St. Mark's, Kitchener. She then served in the Atlantic Conference in a variety of ministries: parish and Christian education, church camping, retreat leader, and youth work. After Nova Scotia, she studied at the Aldhouse School of Education at the University of Western Ontario where she received bachelor and masters degrees in education. Since then she has served at Luther College in Regina and at St. John's, Waterloo.
Having just completed a year at the Guelph Centre of Spirituality, she will do course work this fall at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary.
She has contributed over the years to a number of synodical committees, especially as facilitator and trainer in leadership labs for the synodical youth team. Currently she serves on a committee of her deaconess school. Her Guelph experience has renewed her convictions on a number of dimensions of the spiritual life. She speaks of the longing and yearning of the heart for a closer relationship with God that led her to the Guelph Centre, out of which has come a new appreciation of the great "work" of prayer as she brings to greater consciousness her relationship with God. She speaks these days of the need to move our personal and private faith experiences of and with God into more public spaces. Sister Anne serves as a spiritual guide at her home in Waterloo.
